Das Ich

is composed of Bruno Kramm (Music / Instruments) and Stefan Ackermann (Vocals, Lyrics). Their live members have varied over the years. Das Ich was on tour promoting their latest album Kannibale.

Discovering Das Ich

I discovered Das Ich purely by luck when I received a promotional batch of CD's from Metropolis. Listening to Das Ich's album Cabaret reminded me of soothing classical music with a dark twist. I was inspired to use their music in a small experimental film called Anastasia Seeks Solitude for my public access in 2007. You can click here to view it.

One day I got a message via facebook from a random person who informed me that Das Ich was playing in NY. It turned out that person was actually a long time viewer of the show who had also seen my "controversial" Front 242 interview back in 2006. What a coincidence!

Stefan and Bruno are characters WITH character and I managed to complete the interview without getting eaten by them. Viewers that never heard of Das Ich found them very interesting to watch on the show.

The concert was a lot of fun, and it was great to listen to some good music. Considering the fact that many NY venues do not showcase as many underground unique bands as they used to, this was a refreshing change.
